Runako: How are you? Especially now with the on-going coronavirus pandemic?
Gail: I'm extremely well actually. I believe this time of reflection, rest and reset was necessary to restore balance and sanity while also realigning purpose.
Runako: How have you been taking care of your mental health? Have you implemented any changes to your personal routine?
Gail: I acknowledge my feelings and give myself the freedom to openly & truthfully go through experiences. I do things that make me happy: spending time with friends and family. I recently added biking to the routine. OMG so much fun. I forgot how invigorating a bike ride is.
Runako: How have you been taking care of your physical health? If not, why?
Gail: I workout 3-5 times a week. I picked up boxing & bike riding during quarantine. It's been quite liberating for both my physical and mental health.
Runako: We can’t forget about skincare, how has your skincare routine been during the quarantine? Any significant changes?
Gail: Huge difference in skin routine. Less is more! Now I only have 2 go-to products for my face. A sea-moss turmeric mask which I sleep in twice a week & I hydrate my skin daily with the Runako body butter from head to toe. I alternate between the Grapefruit and the Original. Other than that I just wash my face with a white rag and water. I don't use anything else on it. It's cleared up tremendously! And it feels better too. Hydrated, smooth. My skin finally glows. The biggest change for me was getting rid of the dark spots and blemishes from past acne or popped pimples.
Runako: What are some products you’ve been loving and using?
Gail: I love washing with the Olay moisture ribbons plus shea + lavender body wash. Also body scrubs are my thing!!!!! I use them once a month to just scrub away dead skin and revitalize my body. It keeps it looking polished and bright.
Runako: Any natural skin care tips or products you’ve tried and are now part of your personal routine?
Gail: No natural skin care tips just yet but I do want to try adding some essential oils to my bath water to naturally moisten and soften my skin. I mean it feels great already with just the body butter but at nights I don't put on anything except powder so maybe a little oil in my bath might be the perfect addition to my nightly routine. I just purchased some sensitive rose essential oil from Sensitive Nails by Tatiana so I'll try it and let you know the outcome.
Runako: Do you have any go-to DIY skincare recipes or combinations that you can share?
Gail: I'm a simple girl, real less is more. Only DIY I have is juicing lol. I juice and drink lots of water. Keep my lips hydrated with Cocoa butter chapstick and sometimes I'll pop a vitamin E gel pill and rub on my face if it looks like a pimple is trying to come.
Runako: What’s a must in your personal care routine? (Don’t be shy)
Gail: For the body, WAXING! All wax everything from my private area to my underarms to my eyebrows. OMG quarantine had me out here looking like “how hairy met Gaily” lol. Thank you Lord, Brazilian Wax by Andreia is back open. I have sensitive skin so razors and many hair removal techniques are a no go but waxing is a must and it compliments my skin......another must is a full set of long natural nails. I go to a black girl out in Marietta, GA (@quierabeatrice). She's so professional, clean, affordable and just all around amazing with her nail skills.....And a good candlelit bath. I NEED a relaxing bath in the dark with candles and some soft/warm music......Hair wise, I can not live without hot oil treatments and deep conditioning. I give myself that every 2 weeks. Those are my only must haves. Oh and a nap! lol I got to get a nap in, everything else I can live without.
Runako: Any advice, tips or tricks you want to share? Something you might have discovered recently that might help someone reading this?
Gail: All the water in the world, all the skin care products and healthy eating won't help if your mind isn't right. First focus on your mental, everything else will fall in place organically.
